Each of the incredibly lifelike pieces is made of around 100 feet of the unusual material which Ivan painstakingly twisted to pin them into shape. Till date, the 46-year-old artist has crafted a collection of famous faces from entertainers to explorers and much more.

Ivan’s wire sculptures clearly hint towards the versatility and adaptability with the use of chicken wire. Creatively, layering, twisting and shaping the chicken wire Ivan has created both abstract and realistic representations and continues to do so. Candidly demonstrating his superior level of craftsmanship, Ivan’s wire work has received many awards and a attention of people all over the globe.

Ivan Lovatt is one of those artists who are always looking for new media to experiment with, and for him chicken wire proved to be just what he needed.

Before starting to mold chicken wire into intricate portraits, Ivan used it to give structure to some of his earlier sculptures. At one point, he began creating wildlife out of the unusual medium, and as his skills developed, he moved to celebrity portraits.
